Library Project

Oregonians for Science and Reason, with the support of the Center for Inquiry (CfI), provides the Skeptical Inquirer magazine and skeptical books to local Oregon libraries.

This project was initiated in 2000 by O4SR member Richard Leinaweaver. He first identified local libraries that did not carry Skeptical Inquirer. He ranked those libraries by the number of patrons they served and per capita income of the population served. From this data, he selected 12 libraries with the greatest need and the largest potential readership to receive ongoing subscriptions. Finally, he confirmed that each receiving library wanted a subscription. O4SR made it clear to each library that this would be an ongoing subscription were they to accept the gift. O4SR also donates books on skeptical topics to local libraries interested in receiving them.
